At the beginning of this year I finished an intensely personal handmade photography book. A grieving hand is a sad story, made subsequently even sadder by unforeseen personal and global circumstances. Looking back, the moment I sewed the final stitch into A grieving hand, 2020 loomed uneasy on the horizon.
A grieving hand seeks to understand a poignant moment in my life, the enormity of which precipitated an ineffable grief. This book helps lay those feelings to rest. Unknowingly, my photographs circumscribed a path towards understanding. Only later, after collecting these images into a series, did their meaning become apparent. A grieving hand tells a candid story; however, because the internet can be crazy, I have obscured the story's exact details here and in the video below.
